Application NotePreliminary experiments gave an approx 70kDa band in Human Placenta lysate after 1µg/ml antibody staining. This band was successfully blocked by the immunizing peptide. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 13.9kDa according to NP_036528. We would appreciate any feedback from people in the field - have any results been reported with other antibodies/lysates? Have any further splice variants/modified forms been reported?

Backgroundp53/TP53-regulated repressor of Akt/AKT1 signaling. Represses AKT1 by preventing AKT1-binding to membrane lipids, thereby inhibiting AKT1 translocation to the cellular membrane and activation. Contributes to p53/TP53-dependent apoptosis by repressing AKT1 activity. Its directs transcription regulation by p53/TP53 may explain how p53/TP53 can negatively regulate AKT1. May acts as a tumor suppressor.
