Novel Antibodies for E-cadherin Research

E-cadherin (epithelial-cadherin), like placental-cadherin (P-cadherin) and neural-cadherin (N-cadherin), is a calcium-dependent cell adhesion glycoprotein essential for various cellular functions. It forms adherens junctions through binding of its cytoplasmic domain to α- and β-catenins that interact with the cytoskeleton. E-cadherin maintains epithelial cell morphology, is crucial for embryogenesis, and is a regulatory component of the Wnt signaling pathway (1). Downregulation of E-cadherin is a fundamental step in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) associated with morphogenesis, wound healing, and cancer progression (2).

GeneTex has introduced two new recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies (see below) validated for different applications to its catalog of E-cadherin antibodies, which includes the highly cited rabbit polyclonal antibody GTX100443. GeneTex also offers cited reagents to detect the catenin proteins (see below). To learn more, please go to www.genetex.com.
