TARGET

Background

Exendin-4 is a 39 amino acid peptide found in venom from the Gila monster Heloderma suspectum. It is a member of the glucagon-secretin family of peptide hormones and neuropeptides. Exendin-4 is a potent agonist of the GLP-1 receptor and hence a potent stimulator of insulin secretion.

It is possible to measure intact exendin-4 by a sandwich ELISA which is not subject to interference from GLP-1 or other glucagon-related peptides that may be present. GTX60952 is used as capture antibody in combination with a biotinylated detection antibody GTX60993-02.
