APPLICATION

Application Note

For IHC-Fr: A dilution of 1:50 to 1:100 may be used as a guideline using a three-step avidin complex system. For WB: Use at an assay dependent dilution. For IP: Use at an assay dependent dilution. Not suitable for use on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections. The optimal conditions should be determined by the individual laboratory.

Calculated MW

39 kDa. ( Note )

Specificity/Sensitivity

This antibody reacts with the E-rosette receptor on T-cells. The receptor, which has a molecular weight of approximately 50 kD, is present on the surface of the majority of circulating T-cells. This antibody reacts with the majority of T-cells in peripheral lymphoid tissue, cortical thymocytes, and most T-cell neoplasms

TARGET

Background

CD2 is a surface antigen of the human T lymphocyte lineage that is expressed on all peripheral blood T cells. It is one of the earliest T cell markers, being present on more than 95% of thymocytes; it is also found on some natural killer cells but not on B lymphocytes. CD2 interacts with lymphocyte function associated antigen (LFA3) and CD48/BCM1 to mediate adhesion between T cells and other cell types. CD2 is implicated in the triggerring of T cells, the cytoplasmic domain is implicated in the signaling function. It is useful for the identification of lymphomas and leukaemias of T cell origin.
