Figure Note :
IHC and confocal microscopy for a calbindin-positive Purkinje cell present in the cerebellum of an adult male Wistar rat.
A1-A2: Immunolabeling for calbindin (Calb; red). Nuclei (Nu) were counterstained with DAPI (grey). Purkinje neurons (PkC) express calbindin in their somas and projections. These GABAergic cells exhibit an intricately elaborate dendritic arbor towards the cerebellar molecular layer (yellow arrow) and a single long axon (cyan arrow) that forms synapsis in the deep cerebellar nuclei.
A3: 3D reconstruction of the main projections of the Purkinje cell pointed in A and B. Image generated at 60X with 2.0 zoom, in an Olympus FV1000 confocal microscope.
