Manual staining : Heat-induced antigen retrieval for 5 minutes in an autoclave at 121ºC in pH 7.8 Tris-EDTA-based Target Retrieval Solution buffer. Based on the testing result, the pH 7.8 showed a strongest staining pattern. The pH 9.0 is acceptable but lower pH results in a significant deterioration of sensitivity

This antibody has been validated by Autostainer including Agilent/Dako - Autostainer Link 48, Bond RX-Lecia, and Roche-Ventana Discovery ULTRA. Please refer to the protocol.
Not tested in other applications.

Background

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the keratin family. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. The type I cytokeratins consist of acidic proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains. This cytokeratin is a major cellular protein of mature enterocytes and goblet cells and is specifically expressed in the gastric and intestinal mucosa. The type I cytokeratin genes are clustered in a region of chromosome 17q12-q21. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

In the stomach, cytokeratin 20 immunostaining is preferentially seen in the cells of the surface epithelium while staining is absent in the deep glands.
