APPLICATION

Application Note

ELISA: 1/2000 by ELISA vs serotypes O157:H7, O20, O125, O55, O111 & K12. IHC: Use at an assay dependent dilution. Immunblotting: Use at an assay dependent dilution. Fluorescence miscroscopy: Use at an assay dependent dilution. GTX13626 may be used in place of neat antiserum in almost any appropriate antibody-based technique. Will remove E. coli proteins from recombinant preparations. GTX13626 is suitable for conjugation purposes. Not tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Specificity/Sensitivity

GTX13626 reacts with all ""O"" and ""K"" antigenic serotypes of Escherichia coli.

Background

Escherichia coli is a gram negative bacillus that belongs to a larger group of Enterobacteriae - bacteria that inhabit the gastrointestinal tract. Although usually a harmless resident of the gut, some strains have the potential to cause serious problems, especially where there is an immature immune system or immunosuppression, or where the subtype of organism has acquired the ability to produce pathogenic toxins.
