This antibody is able to detect native and recombinant mouse p40 subunit of IL-12 and IL-23. In combination with different detection antibodies, it is able to recognize p40 monomer, p40 homodimer, IL-12 p70 heterodimer (p40 + p35), and IL-23 heterodimer (p40 + p19).

Members of the IL-12 family form heterodimers consisting of heavy and light subunits linked by disulfide bonds. The product of this gene, p40, is a subunit of interleukins IL-12 and IL-23.
