Background
MFAP5 (also known as Microfibril-associated glycoprotein 2, MFAP-2, MP25 and Microfibrillar-associated protein 5 precursor) is a secreted, extracellular matrix protein which is a component of the elastin-associated microfibrils. It forms intermolecular disulfide bonds either with other MFAP5 molecules or with other components of the microfibrils. MFAP5 is upregulated in some ovarian cancers and is associated with poor survival of ovarian cancer patients.
