Calculated MW
Positive Control
Tonsil: Virtually all mantle zone B-cells must show an at least weak to moderate nuclear staining. A moderate to strong nuclear staining must be seen in the germinal centre B-cells.
Negative Control
Colon adenocarcinoma with previously documented loss of MSH2 expression: no nuclear staining should be seen in cancer cells, while a nuclear staining must be seen in stromal and inflammatory cells.

Cellular Localization
Nucleus
Background
This locus is frequently mutated in hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer (HNPCC). When cloned, it was discovered to be a human homolog of the E. coli mismatch repair gene mutS, consistent with the characteristic alterations in microsatellite sequences (RER+ phenotype) found in HNPCC. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2012]
