Background
This gene encodes a hypothalamic neuropeptide precursor protein that gives rise to two mature neuropeptides, orexin A and orexin B, by proteolytic processing. Orexin A and orexin B, which bind to orphan G-protein coupled receptors HCRTR1 and HCRTR2, function in the regulation of sleep and arousal. This neuropeptide arrangement may also play a role in feeding behavior, metabolism, and homeostasis. [provided by RefSeq]

hypocretin (orexin) neuropeptide precursor antibody detects hypocretin (orexin) neuropeptide precursor protein by western blot analysis. Rat tissue extracts (50 μg) was separated by 15% SDS-PAGE, and the membrane was blotted with hypocretin (orexin) neuropeptide precursor antibody (GTX129928) diluted at 1:1000. The HRP-conjugated anti-rabbit IgG antibody (GTX213110-01) was used to detect the primary antibody.
