As is commonly seen with membrane proteins, significant hydrophobicity can lead to aggregation following boiling of samples prior to SDS-PAGE and subsequent western blotting. We recommend to avoid boiling in this case.

Figure Note : GABAA receptor beta3 subunit (Green, clone[N87/25]) and VGAT (Red, GTX101908) in the rat medulla neuropile.
The signal for the GABA receptor was detected on a neuron’s cell surface, while the signal for VGAT was detected over the GABA receptors, likely in the pre-synapses onto the neuon.
